Are you ready to take the plunge and start your first amigurumi project? Well then, let’s go!
I use cotton yarn for all my amigurumi creations as it creates more defined stitches. It doesn’t bobble like acrylic yarn does, or go fluffy. It also hand washes really well.
The yarn I have used in this project is Paintbox DK Cotton yarn. I bought it from LoveCrafts which is based in the UK. I didn’t realise at the time this is their own brand and they do not sell it to other retailers! So unfortunately it cannot be bought within stores in Ireland.

You can of course use any brand of yarn you wish but ensure it is DK (8 ply). There are several brands of cotton yarn out there.
As the world is full of headlines about climate change these days there is definitely more thought put into what I purchase. Eco-friendly yarn like cotton is top of my list. Here are some brands that provide it (not a conclusive list)
DMC Natura
Debbie Bliss
King Cole
Paintbox
Rico Creative
Rico Essentials
Rico Ricorumi
Scheepjes
Schachenmayr
Stylecraft
